Finally....
The service learning project I must say have finally "offcially" started in our class, meaning most of our class members have each of their roles in the project. Our group was assigned the role of having to raise funds for the camp. It is definitely a very difficult job to do, we need to come up with the ideas and must raise enough for the camp.
The first step was typing the letters and faxing to the old boys, this was already one tiring one, not only must get the old boys namecards, but me and Royston printed all the letters wrongly and have to print them all again in school, it took all about 2 hours, I think. Made quite a few mistakes....(maybe i typed too fast) After that, me and Royston still need to think of which outside sponsors to write to and what we are going to ask from them as I think that selling things is a must to supplement what we raised.
The cost was definitely much higher than I initially expected as at the presentation to the Care Community services people, I realise there are much more smaller details into making the camp unforgettable for the children and most of all a success. Now I just have to keep my fingers crossed that we will successfully raise the first batch of money from the 18 sponsors (can't remember the number). (keeping my fingers crossed...)
On Tuesday, we went to visit the CareHut at Eunos Primary to find out more about the people we are serving. On entering seeing the kids in the room, make me look back on my lower primary years. Asking them questions, then made me realise that they love thier companionship of their friends and want to have some fun with them. This makes me want to help them by achieving the goal in this project.
My first journal entry for the service learning project. I must honestly say the questions for the worksheet are very hard to come up with, must think very hard. Until now only came out with about.... maybe 10 questions within the group. Another thing, the project looks long and time consuming, especially the implementation process, a lot of hardwork and must see other people's face (that's my assumption).
